My story
Hello and welcome. My name is Dr Eileen Oak and I am the CEO of Oakleaf Tutoring Solutions. For the past 23 years I have taught sociology in social science programmes at universities in the UK, New Zealand and the Republic of Ireland.
For the past five years I have taught sociology and social policy on social work courses at Newcastle University, and tutored A-Level History and Sociology students across Newcastle, the North East and the wider UK on a private basis. I am currently an examiner for the AQA exam board.

Online teaching experience
Through working at the Open University, Massey University (NZ) and Newcastle University, including throughout the COVID pandemic.
I have developed extensive experience in designing and delivering online learning: Blackboard Ultra, Adobe, Panopto and Canva recorded lectures, and effectively structured tutorials over Teams or Zoom.
I specialise in tailoring small-group or individual tutorials to a wide variety of learning needs, and my experience teaching undergraduate and master’s students at Massey University means I am well practised at supporting students for whom English is not a first language.
